About Us
For Lasting Change.
Grit & Wit Anthology (GWA) is a collection of resources, stories, and tools designed to support and uplift helping professionals. Rooted in resilience, humor, and practical wisdom, GWA is a space where social workers, therapists, first responders, and anyone in the field of human service can find guidance, connection, and a little bit of comic relief.
Founded on the belief that doing meaningful work shouldn’t mean losing yourself in the process, GWA is committed to providing engaging, interactive, and insightful content that blends professional expertise with real-world experience. Whether it's through our flagship project, The CPS Survival Guide, or future books, workbooks, and tools, our goal is to help you navigate the challenges of service work while maintaining your well-being, passion, and sanity.
At GWA, we don’t just acknowledge the struggles of the profession—we embrace them with grit, wit, and a damn good sense of humor. Welcome to a community that understands the weight of the work and the power of resilience.

Our Story
Grit & Wit Anthology was born from experience—both in the field and in the classroom. After years in child welfare and mental health, navigating the emotional weight of the work while pursuing a doctorate, one thing became clear: helping professionals need more than just training. They need real, practical support to sustain their passion without losing themselves in the process.
But this work isn’t just about us—it’s about the youth, families, and communities we serve. The impact we have on them is directly tied to our own well-being. How can we create lasting change if the people doing the work aren’t whole themselves? True transformation happens when we support those on the front lines, ensuring they have the tools, resilience, and balance to show up fully—both for themselves and the people who depend on them.
What started as a CPS Survival Guide for a doctoral capstone evolved into something bigger—a space for those in social work, mental health, and human services to find resources, humor, and connection. GWA is here to bridge the gap between theory and practice, offering tools that are as engaging as they are useful.
This is more than a passion project; it’s a commitment to the people doing the hard work every day. Because resilience isn’t just about grit—it’s about wit, too.
